Fall YASH 2018

Welcome to YA Scavenger Hunt! This bi-annual event was first organized by author Colleen Houck as a way to give readers a chance to gain access to exclusive bonus material from their favorite authors... and a chance to win some awesome prizes! On this hunt, you not only get access to exclusive content from each author, you also get a clue for the hunt. Add up the clues, and you can enter for our prize—one lucky winner will receive one book from each author on the hunt in my team! But play fast: this contest (and all the exclusive bonus material) will only be online for 120 hours!

Go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page to find out all about the hunt. (See link in next paragraph.) There are SEVEN contests going on simultaneously, and you can enter one or all! I am a part of the GREEN TEAM—but there is also a red team, a gold team, a blue team, a purple team, a pink team, and an orange team for a chance to win a whole different set of books! If you'd like to find out more about the hunt, see links to all the authors participating, and see the full list of prizes up for grabs, go to the YA Scavenger Hunt page.

Here are the books you're competing for on the GREEN TEAM.

SCAVENGER HUNT POST

Today, I'm hosting Melanie Hooyenga for the YA Scavenger Hunt!

Multi-award winning young adult author Melanie Hooyenga first started writing as a teenager and finds she still relates best to that age group. She has lived in Washington DC, Chicago, and Mexico, but has finally settled down in her home state of Michigan. When not at her day job as a Communications Director at a nonprofit, you can find Melanie attempting to wrangle her Miniature Schnauzer Owen and playing every sport imaginable with her husband Jeremy. I heard a rumor that Melanie would like to own 17 schnauzers of different sizes someday, but you'll have to ask her if it's true.

Find out more information by checking out Melanie's website or find out more about THE EDGE RULES here! And her social media: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook.

EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

Isn't that cover sweet? I love it! Check out the synopsis below.

Being a bully isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Sixteen-year old Brianna had everything she wanted: money to ski all over the world, underlings to do her bidding, and parents who gave her every freedom—as long as she played by their rules. But when she’s busted shoplifting and assigned to the Chain Gang, she ditches her shallow ways and realizes being herself is easier than manipulating people. Forced to partner with kids she’d never dream of befriending, including Xavier, a boy who makes her pulse go into hyperdrive, Brianna vows to be a better person. Breaking Old Brianna’s habits isn’t easy, but her infatuation with Xavier—someone her parents would never approve of—motivates her to keep trying. Even when he convinces her to trade her swanky skis for a beat-up snowboard. Brianna lets go of her need to control everything and finally starts to feel free—until her past threatens to jeopardize her first real chance at love. She discovers balancing on the edge is as challenging in life as it is in snowboarding, and when a new friend is in trouble, Brianna must decide between the superficial things that used to be her world and putting her friend’s safety before herself.

And here's Melanie's bonus content for YASH and her thoughts about it:

"I've always loved book aesthetics and how they show readers how a book feels. This is my first attempt and I hope you like it! This follows Brianna's story from her arrest and news that her parents are getting divorced, to everything that happens afterwards—including finding love where she least expects it. I'm especially excited that I found a picture of a girl who looks exactly how I envisioned Brianna's new friend Drea."

Very cool, Melanie!
