June & July Wrap-Up Plus a Surprise

Hey there, book lovers! Hope your summer has been going well. I’ve been busy

traveling and reviewing final proofs of my last book in the Second Chances series, which is due out around the end of September. I also have a cover reveal coming up and I’m so excited for you to see how cute it is! More on that soon.

Here’s the list of books that I read in June and July from first to last.

1. Always on My Mind (Christiansen Family #4) by Susan May Warren, adult inspirational romance

2. Nothing But Sky by Amy Trueblood, YA historical

3. The Gate Keeper (Inspector Ian Rutledge #20) by Charles Todd, historical mystery

4. The Reunion (Brides of Beadwell #1) by Sara Portman, historical romance

5. The Kiss of Deception (The Remnant Chronicles #1) by Mary E. Pearson, YA fantasy, re-read

6. My Plain Jane (The Lady Janies #2) by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows, YA fantasy, YA historical, Jane Eyre retelling

7. Swiss Vendetta (Agnes Luthi Mysteries #1) by Tracee de Hahn, mystery

8. A Treacherous Curse (Veronica Speedwell #3) by Deanna Raybourn, historical mystery

I only read three YA books during those two months. What’s up with that? :D As you

can see I was clearly in a mood for mysteries either historical or present day. I enjoyed all of these books, but my favorite was MY PLAIN JANE, the sequel to MY LADY JANE, because it was just plain fun. (Heh. See what I did there?) Anyway, if you like fantasy and humor and fictional retellings, check this series out. And let me know what you think!

And now for the surprise. You may have noticed on social media or here on the website that I have this medallion for winning a contest. I’m so excited and honored to share that in July I found out that ABOUT LAST SUMMER won The Beverley award from the Colorado Romance Writers group in the YA category. Woot! This is the first time my work has won an award and I'm still thrilled about it.

ABOUT LAST SUMMER is the first book in the Second Chances series. You can read its synopsis through my Books menu. Each book in the series is a standalone, but the same characters turn up in each story. Check back soon for the cover reveal of the last book in the series!
