Update Wednesday
Hi there! Hope everything is going well as kids head back to school and the temperature flirts with getting cooler. I have a couple more recent reads to show you today. I finally jumped on the band wagon and read AN EMBER IN THE ASHES by Sabaa Tahir. So many people have raved about this young adult fantasy, but I decided early on that I wasn't going to read it until right before its sequel came out on August 30. So now I have. And what can I say? It wasn't a fun read per se. It was too intense and violent for me to consider it "fun." But it was compelling and I was thoroughly involved with the characters before it was all over. So I'm looking forward to book two.
Another book I read was the next edition in the Stoker and Holmes series by Colleen Gleason, THE CHESS QUEEN ENIGMA. I love these YA steampunk novels with the characters of Mina Holmes, the niece of Sherlock, and Evaline Stoker, the sister of Bram. There's usually a murder to solve and vampires to do away with and I wish there were already more books out in this series. Oh, and did I mention the snippets of romance that run throughout the books? So fun.
As far as my writing goes, I've finished my most recent YA romance and am busy revising it before I turn it in to my publisher next week. Woo! A very busy August!
